In the heart of Bangladesh, where landless farmers faced an uncertain future, a silent crisis unfolded. Each day brought the looming specter of climate-induced displacement, with millions grappling to survive. The very ground they tilled seemed to shrink beneath the rising waters and annual floods, eroding over 69,000 hectares of vital agricultural land annually.

Amid this struggle, rivers choked with plastic waste added another layer to the crisis, carrying a staggering 73,000 tons every day. It was against this backdrop that MGI, a conscientious conglomerate, recognized its role in the environmental predicament. After two years of dedicated research, they unveiled a transformative solution: Plastic Farming.

This innovative initiative aimed to repurpose plastic waste into floating farms, a beacon of hope for a beleaguered farming community. Teaming up with Bidyanondo, a voluntary organization, and local government agriculture officers, MGI empowered landless farmers to adopt this pioneering approach. Simple bamboo frames, reclaimed bottles, water hyacinth, and crop seeds became the tools of transformation.

Nationwide activations, a user-friendly website, and comprehensive video tutorials accompanied by MGI product manuals were launched to facilitate widespread adoption. The Plastic Farming project not only reclaimed climate refugees as farmers but also bolstered the nation's productivity, fortified food security, and ushered in a paradigm shift in agricultural practices.
