Description
The challenge
Fecomércio Maranhão was launching the Câmara Empresarial da Mulher — an institutional space dedicated to strengthening female entrepreneurship in the state. The risk was clear: a cold, institutional campaign that the women it was meant for wouldn't recognize as their own. The creative challenge was to turn a launch into a movement — and to make the women who were already building businesses, many of them invisible, finally feel seen and named.
The creative solution
In Brazil, there is an expression used for decades to dismiss what people don't want to take seriously: "negócio de mulher" — literally "women's business," said with a shrug, a smirk, as a synonym for something trivial.
The campaign starts exactly there.
The manifesto film opens with a male voice, casual and careless: "Ah, that's women's business…" Hard cut. One by one, real women entrepreneurs from Maranhão step forward — not to answer the prejudice, but to ignore it entirely. Each one speaks her numbers: tons produced per month, years in the market, annual revenue, employees, clients. And closes with the same phrase, now carrying a completely different weight: "Women's business."
An automotive parts distributor with 24 years in the market and over 4 million reais in annual revenue. An artisan biscuit producer supplying every deli in the city. A fine beverage distributor moving 300,000 bottles of wine per year across the state. Real women, real numbers, real pride.
Their voices build together — not aggressive, powerful — until they become a chorus. The expression once used to belittle is reclaimed, backed by data and delivered with dignity.
The campaign ran across a manifesto film, a 30-second version for TV and digital, outdoor, bus back panels, and a social media content series — all anchored by the same concept and closed with the sign-off:
Women's business. With great pride.
The results
The campaign exceeded every expectation. Since its launch, businesswomen across Maranhão have been reaching out directly to Fecomércio — not with complaints or questions, but to congratulate the institution on the campaign and ask how they can be part of it. What was designed as a launch became, almost immediately, a movement of belonging. The phrase that was once used against them is now something women want to sign their name to.
