The Billboard That Comes Alive

Agency: Dhaka XR

Description

Bangladesh's first augmented reality (AR) billboard, developed by Dhaka XR, a creative technology studio based in Dhaka. The AR experience was built as one part of the larger 1Bangladesh 1Internet campaign.

How it works: people scan a QR code and point their phone camera at the billboard. A glowing 3D orb appears on top of the billboard pole and plays a series of animated messages about the internet.

The challenge: most AR works when the phone is close to the target. A billboard is high up and far away, and every billboard is a different size. So Dhaka XR built a custom machine learning model that detects the billboard's position and size from a long distance. This lets the AR experience lock onto billboards of any size, right from street level.

No app download is needed. The experience runs directly in the mobile browser using WebAR. The same artwork also works as a newspaper AR print ad, so readers can scan it at home and see the same experience.

This professional campaign titled 'The Billboard That Comes Alive' was published in Bangladesh in October, 2026. It was created for the brand: Grameenphone, by ad agency: Dhaka XR. This Content, Digital, and OOH Outdoor media campaign is related to the Other industry and contains 2 media assets. It was submitted 44 minutes ago by Founder: Shahnewaj Mahmood of Dhaka XR.
