Stories That Could Not Be
Agency: Innvented
Description
Between 1973 and 1985, Uruguay experienced a civil-military dictatorship, resulting in 197 Uruguayan citizens being detained and disappeared. As May 20th approaches, so does a new edition of the Silent March, which demands remembrance, truth, and justice for each of them.
In this context, the organization Families of Detained and Disappeared Persons launches "Stories That Could Not Be," a short film that is part of a campaign developed by the agency Innvented and the production company Oriental Films for Mothers and Relatives of Detained and Disappeared Persons.
The film tells the story of Oscar Tassino and how his family imagines his life would have continued had it not been taken by the dictatorship. To project Oscar's image over time, generative artificial intelligence tools were used, based on the analysis and processing of a large volume of photographs and materials provided by the Tassino family.
To this day, his daughter Karina, his family, and all of us continue to search for him, as well as for each of the stories that could not be.
For them, we demand truth, remembrance, and justice.
Never again to state terrorism.
