Description
Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM)’s latest film demonstrates the full scope of services offered by the suicide prevention charity, including practical advice for those worried about a loved one, what happens when you use CALM’s services and ways people can support the charity.
Witness Studios’ Simon+Ben said: “We worked with CALM on the launch of their STAY campaign a few years ago. The ultimate endorsement that we are doing something right is when people come back to us so we are incredibly grateful to CALM for trusting us again with something so important. It’s a testament to their reputation that we managed to recruit the most incredibly talented team to bring it to life.“
On donating the track for the film, New Order said: “We know first-hand how devastating it is to lose someone to suicide. That’s why we’re CALM ambassadors and why we didn’t think twice when they asked if they could use ‘Your Silent Face’ for this film. We’re honoured that it’s been used to spread this vital message and show that we all have a role to play in ending suicide.“
Based on real stories from CALM service users and supporters, the film shows how we can all play a role in suicide prevention. It features four key storylines; a suicide survivor who used CALM’s services; someone bereaved by suicide taking on a fundraising challenge; someone experiencing suicidal thoughts contacting the charity's helpline via its live chat for the first time; and someone calling the helpline to support a loved one they’re concerned is feeling suicidal.
CALM CEO, Simon Gunning, said: “It can be incredibly difficult to convey the work we do because suicide is such a complex issue and people using our life-saving services do so in total confidence. The typical image of suicide is a terrible stock photo of someone with their head in their hands - the work we do at CALM is so much more than that, so we were incredibly proud to work with Witness and our fantastic Ambassadors New Order to tell the story of CALM in an authentic, compelling, three dimensional way which shows people what support is available and how we can all do our bit to support the people around us who might be struggling.”
One in five people in the UK will have suicidal thoughts at some point in their life - CALM exists to help people end their misery not their lives
