Legends of Shiva - Aravani Art Project

Agency: ting Works LLP

Description

We live in a world that loves binaries. Male or female. Right or wrong. Us or them.

Black and white feels simpler. But we forget…That beauty lies in the in-between. In balance. In difference. And that's where Discovery stepped in, with a powerful reminder to stay curious. Curiosity is what Discovery has always stood for.

This time, Discovery turned the lens inward. To launch Legends of Shiva with Amish Tripathi, Discovery set out to do more than promote a show. On the occasion of Mahashivratri, they wanted to start a conversation about balance and acceptance. Because in Indian mythology, Shiva and Parvati together form Ardhanarishwara: half man, half woman, a symbol of perfect balance between masculine and feminine energies.

And who better to bring that to life than the Aravani Art Project: a collective of transgender and non-binary artists who live that balance every day. Together, they placed a mural opposite the Shree Siddhivinayak Ganapati Mandir, Mumbai that wasn't just divine, but deeply human, brought alive through a 90-second film.

Our role was to breathe life into the story. To bring the campaign to life, we captured the Aravani Art Project's journey over three days in Mumbai. From the first stroke to the final reveal, every frame was built to feel honest and human, filled with colour, conversation, and emotion. The result: a 90-second film that mirrored the mural's spirit: balanced, soulful, and cinematic.

From production to post to amplification, every ounce was delivered with finesse by ting and ting studios. Three days on ground, directing, filming, and capturing every real moment as it unfolded. Back in post, we shaped every cut, sound, and colour to make the film feel as powerfully alive as the mural itself. And then, our digital team took over, crafting platform-specific assets and driving discovery (pun intended) across platforms.

From one wall in Mumbai to millions of screens across India. We made sure this story moved.

Impact:
It struck an unforgettable chord. 80K+ organic views and 2K+ interactions across Discovery's digital and social platforms. It became the talk of the town with 18+ media publication features.

But beyond numbers, what mattered most was how it made people feel. For once, mythology met identity. Faith met art. And curiosity found its way back to compassion.

Because when we chose to explore the space between black and white, we didn't just tell a story. We reminded the world to look for colour again.

Where the story travelled:
The campaign was picked up across 18+ media publications, including Indian Television, Adgully, MediaBrief, MediaInfoline, MediaNews4U, Passionate In Marketing, Social Media Dissect, Marketing News Online, Business News This Week, Right Column Media, Made In Media, NewsMantra, Local Business News, Roast Brief and NextGen Consultancy.

Headlines ranged from "Warner Bros. Discovery, Aravani Art Project & ting unite to celebrate Legends of Shiva With Amish" to "Warner Bros. Discovery brings mythology to life with inclusive art project" and "Warner Bros. Discovery unveils Shiva-inspired mural in Mumbai."

Recognition:
Bronze, Digital Media category, Big Bang Awards 2026.
