Inflation is abstract for many, complex, hard to grasp, but above all, a harsh reality.
Following the idea “the harder to live, the harder to read,” the Samariterbund developed INFLATIOGRAPHY: the first web font that dynamically changes in real time based on users’ location. Using publicly available data from Eurostat, Statistik Austria, and the Austrian Economic Chamber (WKO), the regional financial burden relative to median income was calculated and reflected in the font’s level of “heaviness.”
At launch on the International Day of Social Justice, leading Austrian media outlets and cultural institutions embedded the font directly into their websites. As a result, their content was transformed into branded content, read millions of times, simply through the use of a typeface.
The result? Over 20 million impressions on day one.
