Description

Easter in Slovakia is deeply rooted in folklore and tradition. One of its most recognizable symbols is the “kraslica”, a handcrafted Easter egg carefully decorated using traditional techniques passed down through generations. These eggs are created by women and given during Easter rituals as symbols of health, beauty and vitality.

Each Ester Egg begins as a real egg. Its contents are gently removed, leaving behind a fragile shell that requires patience, precision and care. The surface is then decorated with intricate wax ornaments, often applied by hand in delicate, repetitive patterns. The result is an object that is both visually refined and physically fragile.

For this campaign, we collaborated with a traditional Slovak Easter Egg artist, Katarína Podskoč, who created an authentic kraslica using a wax-resist technique in the colors of Liga proti rakovine. Every detail of the ornament was crafted by hand, respecting the aesthetics and discipline of the folk tradition.

At first glance, the egg appears perfectly symmetrical. The ornament flows with precision and harmony. But within this delicate structure, a small irregularity appears. A tiny wax droplet disrupts the pattern.

This imperfection becomes the central message.

It represents a lump. One of the earliest and most easily overlooked signs of testicular cancer.

Just like the defect in the ornament, it is small and easy to ignore. Yet it requires attention.

The idea draws on a simple but powerful insight. While Easter eggs are common and familiar, a single unexpected detail can completely change their meaning. The same applies to the human body. What seems minor can be critical.

The campaign was launched during Testicular Cancer Awareness Month in April. It targets young men who actively participate in Easter traditions, yet often overlook preventive health checks.
By embedding the message into a culturally familiar and handcrafted object, the campaign turns tradition into a moment of awareness.

Because sometimes, what looks like a minor flaw can carry life changing importance.
