In Slovakia, breast cancer claims nearly 1,000 women’s lives each year, despite free mammography screening for women aged 45–74. Most, however, never attend. The Bellflower Reminder campaign tapped into an everyday hobby of Slovak women - gardening, to promote prevention in a natural way.
The bellflower, which blooms every two years like mammography intervals, became a “living notification.” Branded seed sachets and public plantings in Trnava reminded women to take care of their health. Supported by doctors, NGOs, and the city mayor, the campaign gained strong credibility and national media attention, reaching over 500,000 people with €25,640 in earned media.
By turning a flower into media, the campaign connected cultural roots with life-saving action.
