While for all men it is normal to look at their penis daily, 52% of Chilean women recognize that they have never seen their vulva. This is because of the church, the lack of comprehensive sex education, sexism and a culture of cancellation towards female genitalia, that does not allow us to even call the vulva by its name, let alone look at it, as it is considered an impure and dirty act, especially in the most vulnerable sectors of Chile.
The vulva has been historically invisibilized; therefore, the first step to change this is to talk about it.
We created thousands of mirrors representing different shapes and sizes of vulvas, specifically designed to encourage thousands of women to look at their own. These mirrors were handed out by expert gynecologists across the country, accompanied by a manual that explains the parts of the vulva and is a guide for monitoring possible diseases.
