The earthquake jersey
About 16 people die prematurely each year in the Dutch province of Groningen due to stress caused by gas drilling earthquakes and related damage. Thousands of homes and buildings have been damaged, including some of the region’s rich stock of medieval churches.
To raise awareness and stand with people being affected by the quake problems, players of football club FC Groningen wore this all-black kit with a seismological sign during cup games. The rips in the shirt represent the thousands of homes that have been damaged and the broken lives of people living in them.
