Pastel Cosmetics Introduces “Sponge Boob” to Raise Breast Cancer Awareness in Turkey
Breast cancer remains the most common type of cancer among women worldwide, and the importance of early detection is widely recognized. In Turkey, the situation is equally critical: one in every four women diagnosed with cancer is battling breast cancer.
Despite this, one of the most essential steps for early detection, regular self-examination is often neglected.
With this insight, Pastel Cosmetics introduces an innovative awareness project designed to integrate this life saving habit into everyday routines: Sponge Boob.
An Everyday Object Becomes a Life Saving Reminder
Sponge Boob transforms a frequently used beauty product into a powerful awareness tool. Inspired by the natural resemblance between makeup sponges and the human breast, the product amplifies this visual similarity through a deliberate and striking design. But its impact goes beyond appearance. Inside the sponge lies a realistic simulation of a cystic lump. When touched, this subtle hardness mimics the sensation one might feel during a self-examination. Each interaction with the sponge becomes a tactile reminder encouraging women to check their own bodies.
Turning Routine into Awareness
The core idea behind the project is simple yet powerful: to embed awareness into daily habits.
By placing this experience directly into a common beauty routine, Sponge Boob creates repeated moments of confrontation and awareness in front of the mirror. What may initially be overlooked gradually evolves into a consistent and conscious behavior.

By simulating the physical sensation of a breast lump through a product that women already use daily, Sponge Boob stands out as a unique example in its field.
