On its 25th anniversary, StopAccidentes presents “Reality Is Worse Than Fiction”, a campaign built around a disturbing truth: we remember fictional deaths far more vividly than the real ones happening every day around us.
Every year in Spain, more than 1,050 people lose their lives in road accidents. And yet, no matter how devastating, these real tragedies rarely stay in our minds. But when a character dies in a hit series, we react instantly - shocked, animated and eager to discuss the moments. Recent research has shown that social media usage goes up by four times when shocking TV deaths happen, with some even sparking dedicated pages to pay remembrance too.
We obsess over deaths on screen, but forget the ones on our roads - caused by distractions, speeding, or alcohol consumption. To confront this contradiction head-on we drew a stark line between what entertains us and what should alarm us.

“Reality Is Worse Than Fiction” breaks through the cultural blind spot, by reimaging iconic posters from the most talked about TV Shows. At first glance, each billboard looks like a real series promotion. But a look closer, and something far heavier emerges: an accident is hidden in plain sight And instead of actors, directors, or producers, the credits list the names of real people who died in road accidents in Spain, a powerful tribute to lives lost; Josep, Pablo, Jessica, and many others who will never return.
