Plastic doesn’t dissolve. It invades. Microplastics have been found in over 114 aquatic species, many of which end up on our plates. (Source: FAO – Food and Agriculture Organization) If fish are swimming in plastic today, what will your child swim in tomorrow? Take it away before it takes over. This World Environment Day, let’s raise awareness before we raise regret.
The rainforest used to echo with birdsong. Now, it's starting to rustle with the sound of crinkled wrappers. Each year, over 8 million tonnes of plastic enter our environment, and even remote forests are no longer untouched. (Source: UNEP) The Earth can’t breathe through plastic. And neither will our children. This World Environment Day, let's take the plastic away before it takes over.
Imagine growing up surrounded not by possibilities, but by pollution. By 2040, plastic production is projected to double, invading even the safest spaces, like our children’s classrooms. Description
Every year, the world produces over 400 million tonnes of plastic, with a staggering 14 million tonnes finding their way into our oceans. This plastic chokes marine life, infiltrates our food chain, and has even been discovered in human blood and lungs, as highlighted by UNEP in 2023. The harsh reality is that plastic is taking over our lives.
For World Environment Day, we launched a powerful social media campaign designed to jolt people into action before plastic irrevocably alters life as we know it. Our approach was simple yet striking: we curated a series of seemingly idyllic visuals of blue ocean life, a dense rain forest, and children at play. However, each scene harboured a disturbing twist: an eerie, pervasive layer of plastic.
These jarring static posts served as a stark reminder of the plastic epidemic, urging viewers to confront the unsettling truth that our beautiful world is slowly being suffocated.
