Maccie Christmas is a holiday activation by McDonald’s and ACE Social that embedded the brand into a long-standing Dutch Christmas tradition in the village of Arkel. A local house was transformed into a life-sized, illuminated Happy Meal, becoming a major attraction that visitors eagerly shared on social media. Rather than running a conventional campaign, the brand participated authentically in the community, with residents driving both the initiative and its viral spread. The result was widespread organic reach, extensive media coverage, and millions of social views driven largely by fan-created content.
