CONTEXT:
Every summer, beaches become the backdrop of unforgettable memories.
People capture sunsets, surfing sessions, diving moments, and perfect vacations by the sea. But behind these postcard-perfect images, oceans and beaches continue to suffer from growing pollution caused by plastic waste and litter left behind.
For World Oceans Day, Bahri Association wanted to turn the visual language of summer memories into a powerful awareness campaign.
CHALLENGE:
The challenge was to transform the familiar and attractive codes of vacation postcards into a strong awareness message.
By contrasting dreamy summer imagery with the harsh reality of polluted oceans, the campaign aimed to create an immediate emotional reaction.
The objective was not only to show pollution, but to trigger a visual and emotional wake-up call, reminding people that while people leave with memories, the ocean often stays with their waste.CREATIVE CONCEPT:
“Leave Memories. Not Waste.”
The campaign borrowed the iconic codes of vintage vacation postcards and summer tourism visuals, then reimagined them through the lens of ocean pollution.
Beautiful beach scenes, surfing moments, underwater exploration, and relaxing holidays were visually disrupted by plastic waste and polluted environments.
At first glance, the visuals feel attractive and nostalgic.
At second glance, they reveal an uncomfortable reality hiding behind the perfect summer picture.
This contrast transformed ordinary vacation memories into a call for environmental responsibility.
DEPLOYMENT The "Leave Memories. Not Waste." campaign was deployed through a fully integrated communication strategy, combining a powerful film, impactful outdoor advertising, press insertions, and a comprehensive digital presence. By leveraging multiple touchpoints, the campaign maximized visibility and engagement, reinforcing its message of environmental responsibility and encouraging beachgoers to leave behind lasting memories, not waste.
OBJECTIVE:
Raise awareness about ocean and beach pollution during the summer season.
Create eye-catching visuals able to stop attention instantly.
Generate an emotional connection through the contrast between dream vacations and environmental reality.
Encourage more responsible behavior toward beaches and oceans.
Amplify Bahri Association’s message during World Environment Day and World Oceans Day.
