On January 1, 2023, the most conservative government in the history of Israel began operating in the state. It has been publicly declared by senior officials in the incoming government that it intends to enforce anti-LGBT laws and promote religious discrimination against LGBT community.
On the morning of the government's first day, the Israeli LGBT Association placed a “hidden” half-page ad on the back of the most right-wing newspaper in the country, “Israel Today” (affiliated with the new ruling party), which by folding the newspaper, creating a full statement together with the newspaper’s name - "Israel Today, Russia tomorrow?"
Thousands of people folded the newspaper and shared the photos to social media in order to shout the cry of protest - do not let Israel become a hostile country for the LGBT community.
