Description
Created as five single-day shoots with real travelers, not actors. The brief was clear: keep it honest, keep it moving, let the Samsung Watch be a practical companion—tracking heart rate, steps, GPS, altitude, and weather—while we stay nimble with a lean crew. Each day had one goal: make the journey feel exactly like it is. This film was part of a 5 film campaign shot across India.
Each film lived inside a different cadence of India, but Kashmir changed us. To reach our frame, we climbed with the nomadic Gujjar tribe to remote mountaintops, carrying camera bags that felt heavier with altitude and lighter with purpose. Up there, the air thins and conversations slow; the land asks for silence before it gives you a picture. The Samsung Watch quietly kept pace with the crew and our traveler—its face catching the same soft light that grazed the ridgelines, its haptic taps syncing with our breath. Technology didn’t intrude; it listened. That became our north star for the entire project.
Directing this series meant learning to rely on instinct over control. We designed each day as a living itinerary—routes we might abandon for a better story, frames we might trade for a truer moment. The watch sat at the center of that approach, turning the micro into meaning: a sunrise run measured in heartbeats, a shepherd’s trail mapped in tiny arcs, a pause captured as stillness after a climb. Data is often cold on paper; in these landscapes it felt warm, human, earned.
Working with influencers instead of actors changed the energy on set. There’s a different tenderness to how non-actors hold space in front of the lens; the camera senses the risk they’re taking, and in return it softens. The series asked them to be present, not perform. When we filmed in Kashmir, the Gujjar community welcomed us with that same unguarded presence. Their routes, their routines, their unhurried conversations became the architecture of the film. The Samsung Watch was woven into these lived moments—checking weather before a move, nudging a step count on long walks, marking the day’s arc with a glance of the wrist. It felt honest because it was used the way people actually use it.
Across all five films, the approach stayed the same: small team, light kit, real routes, and a wearable that actually did the job—timing, pacing, and logging the day so we could concentrate on people and place. From Kochi’s shoreline to Vagamon’s hills, through Munnar’s estates and peaks, and into Kashmir’s valleys and Dal Lake, this project wasn’t about dressing up reality; it was about staying with it.
