"I finally heard the voice I had been longing for."

Toileting is a fundamental human right, yet for 240 million children with developmental challenges worldwide (UNICEF, 2021), it has long been a source of silent suffering. When children cannot verbalize their physical needs, care often turns into a cycle of "monitoring" and "guesswork," which can erode their dignity.

"DFree HapPee Buddy" is an emotional technology project aimed at breaking this cycle. By integrating a wearable ultrasonic sensor with a plush toy, we "translate" medical data into the child’s own voice. Instead of a cold notification on a smartphone, the Buddy speaks: "Let’s go together!"

This project seeks to transform a clinical procedure into a joyful, shared achievement. Launched on World Toilet Day, we explore a future where technology doesn't just monitor, but empowers the bond between children, families, and caregivers.
