Today, German people—especially German youth—have a newfound awareness for environmental issues. At “Fridays for Future,” students gather every week and protest for more changes to save the environment. While there is a lot of information out there concerning pollution via the automotive industry and old energy, the topic of “single-use plastics” is still not as prominent. Germany is also one of the countries with the cleanest tap water in the world. Nevertheless the majority of German people prefers bottled water over tap water. So with 79% of the plastic waste ever produced now sitting in landfills, it is time to raise awareness.
