To celebrate 50 years of the ITV soap we were commissioned to create a special one of a kind film to push to a special hour long episode of the on going drama series.
The spot had to reference the episode and current storylines to tease excited viewers , whilst also nodding to the anniversary itself.
With weddings and widows to come, a celebratory cake felt like a compelling device to shine a light on both sides of the story.
Working with director Matt Rhodes and art directors Lord Whitney, we made 3D scans of the cast in various dramatic poses, to be turned into our lifelike, 3D modelled, drama filled cake decorations, on a cake sculpted by Michelle Widow of Sugar Art.
With edible stone walls and chocolate mud we created some sweet scenes and as with the soap, we needed over the top drama, so a wind sweeps through the scene, nodding to the action in the episode, sending the cake and its dwellers to the floor.
