Description
Eleven years after its debut, Nissan Canada has revived its iconic “Conquer All Conditions” campaign with a modern reimagining for the launch of the all-new Nissan KICKS. Created by TBWA\Canada in partnership with Critical Mass and OMD, the work rolls out nationally across a fully integrated 360-degree campaign, rooted in a distinctly Canadian insight: winter driving anxiety is universal.
The timing is strategic. Research showed high brand misattribution in the category and an aging vehicle fleet across Canada, creating an opportunity to reintroduce a confidence-building message for drivers considering an upgrade. By tapping into a shared cultural truth about enduring winter, Nissan aims to stand out in a crowded market while positioning the KICKS as an affordable vehicle that does not compromise on capability or confidence.
Creatively, the campaign balances homage and reinvention. Drawing inspiration from post-apocalyptic cinema and Nissan’s legacy of snowmen as antagonists, the film updates the tone, design, and technology of the original while keeping its tongue-in-cheek spirit intact. The snowmen serve as a metaphor for winter itself, with the KICKS confidently navigating chaos, unpredictability, and extreme conditions while showcasing features like intelligent AWD with Snow Mode, connectivity, and cold-weather comforts.
Craft and collaboration were central to bringing the spot to life. Shot over three days in downtown Toronto, the production emphasized in-camera realism, detailed production design, and carefully integrated visual effects. Supported by hand-drawn character development and sophisticated 3D animation, the revived “Conquer All Conditions” extends beyond film into personalized digital experiences on Nissan.ca, reinforcing the campaign’s immersive, all-encompassing approach through March 31.
