Description
Every winter, people die in avalanches — not because there are no warnings, but because they are ignored. Warning signs are everywhere, and as a result, they lose their impact.
With Avalanche Alert Ads, the Diedamskopf ski resort addresses this problem by repurposing the largest existing attention infrastructure: digital advertising.
Instead of traditional ads, smartphones in high-risk areas automatically display location-specific avalanche warnings — without the need for an app, registration, or activation.
Based on avalanche reports and developed in collaboration with mountain rescue services, the terrain is divided into digital safety zones. As soon as users enter a risk zone, a warning is delivered in real time via programmatic ad placements.
This allows the system to reach up to 90% of smartphones in the area, reducing entries into closed slopes by as much as 37%.
Avalanche Alert Ads turns advertising into a life-saving warning system — scalable and deployable worldwide.
