As many early indicators of head and neck cancer are identical to the common cold symptoms, people are generally not alarmed when experiencing complaints of head and neck cancer.
To make people aware of the symptoms of this terrible disease we delivered our message at a location people already visit when experiencing similar complaints. The drugstore. Together with a renowned design agency we developed and designed the first medicine brand for head and neck cancer; Alertanol, Alertanol, derived from alertness, is a remedy with a purely informative effect. The package does not contain a real medicine but only a leaflet with information and the ‘1 – for – 3 scheme’. The scheme, that has been drawn up by experts from all over Europe, explains that when people experience certain symptoms for 3 weeks in a row, they are advised to see a doctor.
