There are a few cases where a celebrity collaboration feels less like a brand deal and more like a genuine cultural moment. The Akylas Meal for McDonald's Greece was one of those.
Akylas, the pop star who carried Greece's flag to the Eurovision Song Contest and became a European sensation with his song FERTO (bring it), wasn't just lending his name to a menu.
He was already a McDonald's fan and had the same style energy: authentic and unapologetically feel-good.
Thus, utilizing his new song "PARTO" (take it/get it) we tapped into a McDonald's truth: Deep down, we already know what we want, we just haven't admitted it yet.
The insight came from something deeply human: we almost always know what we want. We just talk ourselves out of it. That moment of fake hesitation — "should I get the nuggets?", "what should I order?" — is a ritual we all perform, even when the answer is already written all over our faces.
So we gave that inner voice a face. With the song.
In two films, the same comic premise plays out in different McDonald's settings. A friend pretends to weigh up whether to grab a nugget. A driver at the McDrive acts undecided about the Akylas Meal. Before anyone can answer, Akylas himself appears, bursting into his now-trending hook: "papapapapa-párto" (get it.)
He's not there to persuade anyone. He's there to say out loud what everyone already feels.
The casting was the creative. Akylas's natural charisma, comic timing and way of appearance made the conceit work not just as advertising but as entertainment. The kind of content people share because it makes them smile, not because an algorithm pushed it at them.
