Description
A campaign for Bolivia’s National Tree Day (October 1), putting purpose-driven creativity at the service of protecting the country’s forests.
The initiative invites people to reflect on the human responsibility behind deforestation and to demand stronger measures for environmental prevention and protection.
The urgency is backed by hard numbers. According to research by Revista Nómadas and the Institute for Socio-Economic Research at the Bolivian Catholic University, 407,064 hectares of forest were lost to deforestation in Bolivia in 2024. That same year, Santa Cruz accounted for 72.5% of the country’s total deforestation.
Faced with this reality, the campaign is built around one idea: behind every tree that disappears, there are actions, decisions and omissions.
Through personification and provocative visual storytelling, three short films and their accompanying print pieces portray the threats faced by three native species: the Toborochi, Quina Quina and Pink Trumpet Tree. Fiction is used to spark an emotional response and shift the focus toward those who have the responsibility to stop this destruction.
The collaboration between Revista Nómadas and 1947 puts creativity to work for a purpose: turning an environmental crisis into a message that challenges people to pay attention and take part. The creative approach aims to bring the issue to new audiences and take the conversation beyond spaces traditionally dedicated to environmental issues.
The campaign will run from September 28 to October 3, 2026, with a special call to action on October 1, Bolivia’s National Tree Day. Citizens, content creators, journalists, artists and organizations are invited to share the campaign pieces. The initiative also includes T-shirts featuring the campaign illustrations, taking the message from screens to the streets.
“A Tree Isn’t Killed Alone” seeks to mobilize support for investigative journalism and encourage citizens to demand action in response to forest loss.
We invite everyone to watch and share the films through Revista Nómadas’ social media channels using the hashtag #ATreeIsntKilledAlone
