First of all, the comparison between two disasters is always touchy, on my opinion. The 2004 tsunami killed thousands of people, I think you have to leave them rest in peace. There are many other ways to express the fact that guns kill people on a large scale.

More over, it's been done to compare two awful events/disasters/curses/afflictions/... in order to show how lethal the one you advertise is.

As a reference, just google MTV 9/11 and you'll easily find the old gold lion for MTV (Cannes 2002 or 2003, I think), with a homeless on the foreground, and the 9/11 plane crashing in the WTC in the background.

About the art, well, I'm not sure either. Too much photoshop for me.
