kinda remember this scene. so the chestnut is the new watch? ;)
i like this ad, it has a good sense of humor.
Surprisingly good campaign.

"I hid this uncomfortable hunk of chestnut up my ass for two years. Then, after seven years, I was sent home to my family. And now, little man, I give the chestnut to you."
Speaking of old chestnuts and piggybacking... I feel a bit like the client is an afterthought to this campaign, tacked on, interchangeable with any product. I like it, but it's just a bit self-glorifying somehow. It's a richly produced way of showing conspicuous consumption, then playing it off against a cheap version of the second-largest investment most people make, but it doesn't click for me; even the 'season of reason', which should chime wonderfully, just comes off forced and false.

I like this, though I agree with CP about the lack of brand connection, which works better for less involved purchases like candy...I don't mind this though, captures holiday spirit for a holiday promotion and gives the brand a pretty unique personality.
sidenote: this guy reminds me of a young christopher walken. the chesnut...she's a fickle beast. love it.
The Walken was the very reason I repurposed the 'your father's watch' speech from Pulp Fiction HHour. Remind me to get you an annual of pop references next Christmas.
Very nice creative to support a car promotion. 99 times out of a 100 it's beauty shots with godzilla size supers, so this is quite fresh.
