Suicide&Co, the charity supporting those bereaved by suicide, has today unveiled a powerful new awareness campaign, ‘Words Unspoken’. The push was developed in partnership with brand communication consultancy Harbour.
The hard-hitting new campaign features a series of real letters, penned and submitted by people bereaved by suicide. The letters provide people with a way of processing their emotions and in turn aid the grieving process.
Each letter is written directly from the person bereaved by suicide to the person they’ve lost. The letters range in length, and their tone reflects the complex range of emotions that come with suicide-related grief. The ads, developed by Harbour, carry the call-to-action ‘Don’t let silence have the last word’, and an invitation for others to submit their own letters via suicideandco.org or using the hashtag #WordsUnspoken.
The campaign will be led by large format OOH that will run on sites nationwide, including a number of Clear Channel’s Platform for Good sites. It will be supported on social channels and the Suicide&Co website. The design work was done by Duzi Studio.
Globally, it is estimated that 1 in 5 people are affected by suicide in their lifetime. But many of those who are dealing with suicide-related grief in all its forms are left to feel alone and forgotten about.
In recognition of the silence and stigma surrounding death by suicide, ‘Words Unspoken’ aims to give people who have been bereaved by suicide a voice, inviting them to write the things they would have liked to have said, or would say now, to the loved one they lost.
Suicide&Co help those who have been bereaved by suicide, enabling them to access support through their counselling service, helpline and digital resources.
