Description
In the Maharashtrian community, there’s a tradition of changing the bride’s name after her marriage and adopting a new identity set by the groom and his family. The tradition is not only unfair to the women but also a violation of their rights.
To bring this to light, for International Women’s Day 2024 we took the role reversal route and made a reel where the men delivered lines typically associated with women such as, “My husband/in-laws changed my name post-marriage because they preferred it better”
The reel ends with a thought-provoking message delivered by a woman, making us question the very necessity of the said tradition.
