Description
For many adults, ghosts and monsters are no longer the scariest things about Halloween. Facing their own financial reality might be even more frightening. That insight inspired Serasa and Burger King® to join forces for a second consecutive Halloween campaign, inviting consumers to confront one of the most common financial anxieties: checking their credit score.
Built around the question,“Who’s Afraid of Their Credit Score?”, the campaign, created in partnership with Oliver Latin America, encourages people to take a simple but often intimidating step toward understanding their financial health.
The mechanics are straightforward. On October 30, from 12:00 a.m. to 11:59 p.m., consumers who visit a participating BK® Drive location, open the Serasa app, and show their Serasa Score screen can redeem either a free Cheddar Jr. or Chicken Jr. sandwich. The initiative combines Burger King®’s long-standing Halloween tradition with Serasa’s mission to promote financial education and credit awareness, proving that checking your score may be scary at first, but it can end with a flame-grilled reward.
The campaign is rooted in a playful observation: if adults are often more worried about bills than monsters, what could be more terrifying than discovering their own credit score? By approaching the subject with humor, Serasa hopes to make financial health conversations more accessible and encourage consumers to stay informed about their credit standing.
A Serasa Score ranges from 0 to 1,000 and represents the likelihood that a consumer will meet their financial obligations on time. Generally, the higher the score, the lower the perceived credit risk and the greater the chances of obtaining access to credit, since many companies use credit scores as one of the factors in lending decisions.
The campaign film, produced by Balma Films, launches on October 27 and brings the idea into a classic horror setting. Throughout the story, monsters attempt to frighten a protagonist who appears completely immune to supernatural threats. The only thing that finally triggers panic is a smartphone screen revealing his credit score, reinforcing the campaign’s message that real-life fears can be more unsettling than fictional ones.
From Fear of Bills to Fear of Credit Scores
The new campaign follows last year’s Halloween collaboration between the two brands. In 2025, Serasa and Burger King® turned overdue bills into the centerpiece of a Halloween activation. Customers who showed a bill at a BK® drive-thru received a free burger, while those who also opened the Serasa app earned a free serving of fries.
The initiative delivered record-breaking results, with more than 177,000 sandwiches redeemed and 233,000 app downloads in a single day.
