Welcome Back Paisano

Agency: LePub México

Description

In a context where thousands of Mexicans are repatriated every year, Tecate and LePub Mexico City are launching ‘Welcome Back Paisano’: an employability platform that reimagines returning home and turns it into a real opportunity to start over. The brand takes a clear stance: if one of the best workforces in the world is back, it’s time to recognize their value with real job opportunities that appreciate their experience, skills, and character.

‘Welcome Back Paisano’ arises from a clear cultural tension: Mexicans are recognized as one of the best workforces in the world and are returning to their country. It’s not enough to simply welcome them; real opportunities must be created for them. That’s why this platform acts as a bridge between talent, employment, and entrepreneurship, integrating repatriated Mexicans into a model that promotes job opportunities connected to Tiendas SIX ecosystem, enabling the creation of new jobs and the opening of new stores.

“Welcome Back, Paisano is an initiative that reflects the character and courage of Tecate: being present when most needed and supporting Mexicans with concrete actions. We aim to generate real impact in communities, strengthen the local economy, and create opportunities that allow the world’s strongest workforce to build a new beginning”, said Marta García, Vice President of Marketing at HEINEKEN México.

Developed by LePub Mexico City, the campaign proposes a shift in the narrative around repatriation. ‘Welcome Back Paisano’ presents a positive and deeply Mexican perspective: turning the situation around and seeing it as an opportunity. Through creativity, the project recaptures the spirit of the ‘Mexican Dream’: the idea that in Mexico, you can also start over, build a future, and feel proud to come back home. Strategically, it transforms this vision into a tangible platform that connects creativity, business, and action.

For LePub Mexico City, the project is a clear statement of how creativity can become a strategic asset for brands: “The world has always known the value of the Mexican workforce, and it is time our country’s greatest strength finally came home. By opening these doors, we aren’t just launching stores, we are reclaiming the talent that should never have been forced to leave. We’re doing this the Tecate way: with the humor and lightheartedness that define us, because if we aren’t laughing at our difficulties while we overcome them, are we even Mexicans? The true value lies not only in communication, but in the real commitment a brave brand makes to a genuine cultural movement. Brands should transcend brand purpose; they need to start with real brand actions”, said Aldo ‘Coco’ Ramirez and Ricardo Avilés, Chief Creative Officers of LePub Mexico City.

Through this approach, the platform supports a model that drives new employment and entrepreneurship opportunities, leveraging the experience of those returning and strengthening the commercial ecosystem of Tiendas SIX –the chain of convenience stores owned by Tecate– always remembering that behind every number there are stories, talent, and the determination to move forward. To achieve this, it is developed in collaboration with FUNDES, a non-profit organization that acts as a strategic partner, providing methodology, expertise, and guidance to support the integration process for beneficiaries. The program not only represents an immediate job alternative, but also a path toward sustainable growth. In the first stage, Tecate commits to employing 130 repatriated Mexicans over the next 24 months, laying the foundation for a scalable model that can expand its reach over time.

The campaign was launched on April 16, with a comprehensive rollout that includes digital media and social networks, designed to amplify the initiative’s perspective. Strategic presence is reinforced through OOH and DOOH in border locations across the country, while content creators contribute to the cultural amplification of the message. Finally, an informative digital platform is available where repatriated individuals can learn about the program and access the opportunities offered to them.

‘Welcome Back Paisano’ represents a tangible commitment to harness the talent and experience of repatriated Mexicans. Beyond creating an employability platform, it aims to build bridges between creativity and real opportunities. This effort seeks to inspire other companies and stakeholders to join in, generating a positive impact that transcends culture and communities.
