Facebook Marketplace Meta

Summer Jobs

Agency: Droga5

Description

Meta has launched a new Facebook campaign from Droga5 that highlights how activity on the platform can lead to meaningful real-world experiences. Directed by Mark Molloy through Smuggler, the 90-second hero film, *Summer Jobs*, follows a young woman named Gracie who discovers her dream pickup truck on Facebook Marketplace. Unable to afford it, she takes on a series of jobs she finds through the platform, with each one introducing her to new people and experiences before she finally earns enough to buy the truck.

The campaign builds on Facebook’s return to brand advertising and reinforces the idea that features such as Marketplace, Groups and Reels help people move beyond the screen and into their communities. Alongside the hero film, a series of shorter spots directed by Rory Wood showcases how Facebook can connect users with shared interests, opportunities and relationships. The creative is brought to life through cinematography by Drew Daniels and a soundtrack featuring *Escape* by Destroy Boys, underscoring the film’s coming-of-age story.

To coincide with the campaign, Meta is celebrating the 10th anniversary of Facebook Marketplace with a three-day pop-up event in Los Angeles from July 23 to 25. The activation will feature displays, workshops, giveaways and experiences centred on Marketplace categories including vehicles, fashion, electronics and home furnishings. The campaign will also extend into Marketplace itself with themed listings inspired by the films, beginning with Gracie’s road trip-ready pickup truck and continuing with customised vehicles designed around outdoor adventures and seasonal interests.
