Stop Feeding the Animals

The illustrations on the reusable bags vividly depict alarming statistics concerning marine life and plastic pollution (40, 50 & 40). These numbers are ingeniously presented in the form of the marine animals commonly found in Bahraini waters, including fish, sea birds, and turtles.

The Problem:
Plastic bag usage remains prevalent in Bahrain, especially during weekly shopping trips where individuals typically purchase 15-20 fruits and vegetables. Each item is placed in separate plastic bags, which are then consolidated into multiple carrier bags at the checkout. Despite efforts to raise awareness, consumer behavior has not changed, allowing the significant environmental harm and wastefulness of this practice to continue.
Additionally, a series of Key visuals were created to support the campaign by showing the plastic bags in words shapes mistake it for food.
The Idea:
Being an island nation, Bahrain is particularly vulnerable to the effects of plastic pollution. We wanted to make a difference and show people exactly where this plastic waste ends up by creating large sculptures of sea creatures native to Bahrain's shores, depicting them ingesting plastic. To not only point out the problem but also to help by showing the solution, we made reusable bags designed with informative statistics about plastic pollution that also resembled marine creatures. The message on these bags serves as a constant reminder of the damage caused by plastic.
Furthermore, we've created impactful key visuals to bolster our campaign. These visuals portray marine creatures feeding on plastic bags cleverly shaped into words, reflecting the disturbing reality of them consuming these bags mistaken for their natural food sources.
