Superconductor, the creative agency and branded entertainment studio founded by Hollywood directors The Russo Brothers and Justin Lin, announced today the introduction of a new advertising spot it has created for the launch of Rotten Tomatoes’ new mobile app. As the world’s most trusted source for entertainment reviews and recommendations, Rotten Tomatoes delivers a fresh, mobile-first experience for movie and TV lovers, combining the platform’s most beloved recommendation features with new tools for deeper personalization, social engagement and smarter discovery. Rotten Tomatoes mobile app is now available to download for free on the iOS App Store and will be available for pre-order on the Google Play Store.
Featuring a pristine tomato flying across the screen in slow motion to the sound of Beethoven’s ‘Ode to Joy,’ the ad invites viewers to, “Discover something fresh.” The tomato then collides with a mobile phone with an unceremonious splat before text reads, “The Rotten Tomatoes App is Here. Finally.” The spot, titled “Splat,” was directed by Steven Moses at pf100.
“Rotten Tomatoes is an incredibly iconic and culturally important brand, but they also have this really irreverent attitude,” said Superconductor’s co-founder and Chief Creative Officer Chris Adams. “So we wanted to do something that was both elevated and worthy, and at the same time not take ourselves too seriously.”
