The Pills That Create Soap from Used Cooking Oil
A single liter of used cooking oil from our favorite meals can contaminate 1 million liters of water. Each year, approximately 25 billion liters of used cooking oil are discarded into the environment, equating to the contamination of 25 trillion liters of water. This pollution severely affects aquatic ecosystems, damaging flora and fauna and making access to clean drinking water more difficult. Some major fast-food brands have explored using their cooking oil as biodiesel. However, creating biodiesel can be impractical and costly for households.
We created "Soap Me Up," innovative pills designed to convert used cooking oil into soap. These pills are primarily composed of coconut glycerin, a dry and natural material that serves as the base for soap creation. When "Soap Me Up" pills are mixed with used cooking oil, a reaction occurs that generates an effective soap for washing dishes or hands.
