Rebuild the Cast

School: Miami Ad School Mexico

Description

LEGO Rebuild the Cast transformed a child’s fracture from a moment of limitation into an opportunity for creativity. A simple redesign that restored play where it was least expected.

The idea was sparked by a simple, almost accidental observation: a child wearing a cast already resembles a LEGO figure. The visual parallel reframed the cast not as a medical constraint, but as something inherently connected to play. This shift in perception revealed an unexpected creative opportunity.

We hacked the healing process by redesigning the traditional cast wrap with a flexible, LEGO-compatible texture. Through partnerships with pediatric hospitals, injured children received a LEGO Starter Kit designed specifically for their cast, replacing passive recovery with active creativity.
LEGO Rebuild the Cast reframed injury through the brand’s core philosophy: when things fall apart, they can always be rebuilt. By embedding play into the recovery process, the campaign restored agency, joy, and imagination to a typically frustrating experience.
Because even in moments of stillness, creativity should never be put on hold.
