Description
Four out of five primary and secondary schools in African countries lack access to electricity, which means students are missing out on major developmental opportunities within their classrooms. It is vital for students to have access to learn to their full capacity, regardless of the limitations that come from living within the digital divide. Amazon will introduce Power Gloves, the first-ever smart gloves that can energize a small device. By wearing the gloves which contain special microgrid technology that converts sweat into electricity, students will be able to fully power a Kindle tablet and have access to thousands of pre-downloaded books including textbooks in all subjects and classic and modern literature. The microgrids placed in each finger of the glove can harvest energy from the constant sweat that is produced on our fingertips, so as long as the gloves are worn while using the Kindle, the device will stay powered. No chargers, outlets, or electricity is required. Each time a Kindle is purchased on Amazon, a student in need will receive a Power Glove box containing a Kindle and the Power Gloves.
