Burger King

Not a Cheat Meal

Agency: Creative Deer

Description

As the Creative Director and concept creator, I led the development of a bold and disruptive campaign designed to challenge the traditional perception of fast food within the fitness and bodybuilding community.
The core idea was built on breaking expectations. Instead of presenting Burger King’s new high-protein, low-carb, sugar-free burgers in a predictable “healthy lifestyle” setting, I intentionally placed the story in an unexpected and provocative environment inside a competing fast food restaurant. This contrast was essential to immediately capture attention and spark curiosity.

The campaign narrative follows a group of professional bodybuilders training with full gym equipment in a fast-food space, creating visual tension between discipline and indulgence. When confronted by their coach, the athletes confidently reveal that Burger King has introduced burgers containing 50–55 grams of protein, with no sugar and no carbohydrates making them a legitimate fuel source rather than a cheat meal.

From a directorial perspective, I focused on authenticity and realism. We cast real bodybuilders, designed raw, high-energy workout sequences, and used cinematic yet grounded camera language to reinforce credibility. The transition to Burger King was executed with strong visual contrast, highlighting the product as a natural extension of a performance driven lifestyle.

The coach’s reveal a powerful, disciplined bodybuilder who personally eats Burger King was a key storytelling moment I shaped to deliver the campaign’s core message:
performance and fast food no longer live in opposite worlds.

This campaign positions Burger King as a brand that understands modern athletes, reframes fast food as functional nutrition, and confidently claims a place in the fitness conversation not as a compromise, but as a choice.
