In Paraguay, Children's Day is celebrated on August 16 th in commemoration of the Battle of Acosta Ñu, where around 2,500 children fought and fell in battle against 20,000 soldiers of the Brazilian army. Over time, this story took a backseat to the tradition of giving gifts to children so they can enjoy their day, as is common around the world.
Kokū Agency for its client, Pici Toy Store, launched a new toy to talk about the importance of this tragic day many years ago. These are the little soldiers that we all know in their generic version, but transformed into those children who fought in the battle of August 16th, 1869. “Ñande Soldaditos” means “Our Little Soldiers.”
These toys were launched as direct marketing for historians, journalists and writers, generating conversation on social networks, radio and TV, once again giving this day the importance it deserves and recognition to the children who fell
Together with the little soldiers, a large percentage of what was sold that Children's Day by the toy store went to "Aldeas Infantiles SOS", which works on assistance programs for children in need.
