Description

Traffic accidents has been recognized as a public health problem by the World Health Organization. In Ecuador in 2023 more than 2,000 people died in traffic accidents. A country with more than 10,000 road networks and a pattern throughout the entire map: In the place where someone died on a road, a cross is installed at the foot of the road, in their memory.

ITB has developed an innovative initiative called "Lights on the Road". This proposal seeks to convert designs of reflective crosses located in places where people lost their lives in road accidents into traffic signs. These crosses will not only serve as a reminder of the lives lost, but will also have a deterrent impact on drivers, reminding them of the importance of driving safely and responsibly.
