Description
St Paul’s Foundation in Vancouver, Canada has unveiled a unique tech-driven art installation to drive donations from the local community.
The Living Light star shines brightly when you tap your credit card to donate, and fades when it goes too long without support. The installation is part of St. Paul’s annual Lights of Hope display and fundraising campaign that supports urgently needed equipment, life-saving research, community programs, and other essential patient and resident services that would otherwise not be funded through traditional channels.
Rethink Canada worked with Uno Media, Eos Lighting and Avrio Pay to build the custom star and kiosk. A carefully programmed LED sequence is triggered wirelessly whenever the kiosk’s server processes a donation. The installation was placed at the entrance way of St. Paul’s Lights of Hope display made of lights and stars sponsored by donors and local businesses. The annual display attracts thousands of people every year, with this being the first time attendees canlight a star themselves—by donating to the Living Light. While the minimum donation for recognition at the display is $2,500, the Living Light star can be activated for as little as $2.
