Light That Moves You

Director and photographer William Ukoh illuminates moments of intimacy in this energetic and visually inventive short film, created by newkid through Fela for Californian lighting brand Gantri.
The vibrant spot, titled Light That Moves You, reimagines everyday happenings – reading, cycling, spending time with friends – as a series of creatively composed, low-lit vignettes that transition seamlessly from one to the next, spliced with bold choreography and trumpet playing. At the centre of each scene are the brand’s wireless lamps stylishly illuminates the action; all set to a charismatic jazz soundtrack.
“The launch film is meant to capture a sense of wonder and community,” said Ukoh. “We wanted to create a vibrant film fuelled by the spontaneity of jazz. Natural expressions of emotion, movement, and intrigue flourish with each handoff of the lamp, showing different types of relationships and unlocking small but significant moments of life, love, and wonder along the way.”
