PROPER, the UK’s fastest-growing major snack brand, has launched its new House Hot Sauce Lentil Chips with a brand artifact instead of a campaign. The independent creative studio Small W•rld has produced a first of its kind limited-edition House Hot Sauce candle for the brand. Sold on TikTok Shop alongside the bottled sauce; once burnt through, it turns into a warm, dippable hot sauce.
Unlike most spicy snacks, which tend to deliver either intense heat with little flavour, or plenty of flavour without meaningful heat, PROPER set out to do things differently. The brand started by creating the perfect hot sauce, balancing heat with tang and depth of flavour, and then built the Lentil Chips around it. The result is a flavour profile designed around pleasure rather than punishment.
That product truth became the foundation for the creative platform. Rather than leaning into the bravado and endurance that typically defines spicy food culture, PROPER and Small W•rld reimagined spicy snacking through the lens of flavour, pleasure and desire, bringing a softer, more feminine perspective to the category.
To bring that world to life, Small W•rld identified a cultural moment, one it describes as the "era of yearning;” a female-leaning audience defined by an intensity of connection, romantic revival, and who have a renewed appetite for sensory experience - from audio erotica and sexual wellness, to the current wave of sweeping romantic adaptations.
The House Hot Sauce Candle is the physical expression of that idea. Designed to set a sensual scene, whether for enjoying alone or sharing with a partner, it gradually melts into warm hot sauce, made for dipping with PROPER's House Hot Sauce Lentil Chips.
The launch also connects to Practice PROPER Snacking, PROPER's masterbrand platform, which subverts wellness culture to reframe snacking as an act of self-care. As self-pleasure is increasingly recognised as a form of self-care in its own right, the edible candle and the ritual around it become a playful exaggeration of that idea, turning a spicy snack into a slow, sensory, fully indulgent moment.
The launch is earned-first and social-first, led by three cinematic shorts plus teasers that playfully subvert the visual language of romance, sensuality and fan edits - dialling up the pleasure of the dipping ritual and turning the candle into an object of desire. This is supported by creator partnerships in the sexual wellness space and sommelier-style food accounts promoting the hot sauce, with no traditional media at the centre.
The current spicy offerings on the market either deliver heat without flavour, or flavour without the heat. PROPER's House Hot Sauce (£7, 100ml) is available exclusively via PROPER's TikTok Shop from 25th June, alongside the brand's House Hot Sauce Lentil Chips, also stocked at major retailers. The ultra-limited House Hot Sauce edible candle (£30) will be available via TikTok Shop from 6th July.
