Blood donation can extend people’s lives. Particularly when these lives are extremely fragile. Like the life of an Instagram Story. But with everyone’s help we can extend its life indefinitely. We created an Instagram Story with an invitation to donate blood, and we tagged three celebrities. Just before the story reached its 24 hour life limit they shared it giving it an additional 24 hours life. Then the next people who were tagged did the same. And so on. The Story lived for 744 hours, a unique record. A national movement that won people’s Instagrams and minds. By giving this story an extra life, we raised awareness and helped refill our blood banks, giving many people an extra life. Sorry for the hack, Instagram. It was for a good cause.
