Description
Today, Even Realities, a camera-free smart glasses company, premieres Exposed, a 10-episode microdrama directed by filmmaker Ishana Night Shyamalan that turns an emerging question around smart glasses into a fictional story: what happens when the people around a wearer become part of the footage, whether they agreed to it or not?
Premiering today on TikTok, Exposed follows a family in the near future where camera glasses are everywhere, and their private vacation becomes entertainment for strangers. It highlights how, when anyone can record, anyone can become the show. Across 10 short-form episodes, the story explores the tension created when always-available cameras become wearable, examining not only the experience of the person behind the technology, but also the people who unexpectedly find themselves in front of it.
“Even Realities is doing something genuinely different in the smart glasses space, so we wanted to highlight that differentiator in the most visceral way possible,” said Shyamalan. “Rather than just trying to tell people about the importance of privacy, we set out to capture the feeling of being constantly surveilled through the classical horror setup of a family in a hotel. Writing and directing “Exposed” for the vertical micro-drama format was an amazing opportunity to play in a developing medium, and to potentially broadcast our messaging to a larger audience. We found a way to highlight the Even Realities glasses without ever needing to show them - really demonstrating what the world will feel like if we keep choosing tech that doesn't protect our privacy.”
The series serves as the centerpiece of Even Realities’ broader Exposed campaign, which launched in September with a trailer and out-of-home placements designed to bring bystander privacy into public spaces. The campaign appeared across New York and San Francisco, including a Times Square takeover and a wrapped bus circulating Meta’s campus during Meta Connect.
For Even Realities, the campaign reflects a deliberate product philosophy. Unlike many smart glasses entering the market, Even G2 does not include a camera. Instead, the glasses take a display-first approach, bringing information including navigation, live translation, notifications, and teleprompting directly into the wearer’s field of view while maintaining the look and feel of everyday eyewear.
“Smart glasses are becoming more present in everyday life, but the conversation has largely focused on what they can do for the person wearing them,” said Will Wang, founder of Even Realities. “Exposed shifts the perspective to everyone else in the room. As this category grows, we believe innovation shouldn’t come at the expense of the people around us, and that privacy and consent need to be part of how the industry thinks about what comes next.”
Exposed was created in partnership with VIRTUE Worldwide, the creative agency powered by VICE Media.
“Even Realities had an opportunity to lead a critical conversation on privacy, so rather than focusing on their product, we chose to show how horrifying a lack of privacy can be - because there’s a difference between telling someone they’re being watched and making them feel it,” said Heather “McT” McTavish Perez, Executive Creative Director at VIRTUE Worldwide. “We created a horror series showing what life without privacy looks like through one family. It had to feel personal. The scariest part is that this world doesn't feel far away. And since our audience already watches multi-part series on social, we created one of the first branded horror series designed specifically for the vertical format.”
Katherine Fernandez, Creative Director at VIRTUE Worldwide, added, “We wanted people to see Exposed and never look at a pair of camera glasses the same way again. That’s the fun of horror: you can tell a cautionary tale through jump scares and give people something they actually want to watch, even if it’s coming from a brand.”
All 10 episodes of Exposed are available beginning today on Even Realities’ TikTok, YouTube and on Even Realities' site.
