Description

With Meta Connect kicking off this week in Menlo Park and concerns around privacy and consent continuing to grow, Even Realities, the consumer technology company behind camera-free, display-first smart glasses, is launching “Exposed,” a new campaign exploring what happens to bystanders when cameras move from our phones onto our faces.

Created in partnership with VIRTUE Worldwide, part of VICE Media, “Exposed” is rolling out across New York and the San Francisco Bay Area this week, ahead of an eight-episode cinematic micro-drama directed by Ishana Night Shyamalan and launching on TikTok on October 8.

“Exposed” is built around a simple premise: smart glasses do not need cameras to be useful, and as wearable technology becomes more prevalent, the industry must consider not only the people wearing these devices, but also everyone around them.

In New York, “Exposed” has taken over Times Square, with additional placements forthcoming in gyms and bathrooms across Manhattan, bringing the message into spaces where people may least expect to be filmed without their knowledge or consent. In San Francisco and Silicon Valley, the campaign is rolling out across the region, including on a wrapped bus running around Meta’s campus throughout Meta Connect this week before continuing through some of the Bay Area’s biggest technology hubs.

“We didn’t want to run another traditional ad that people instantly skip; we wanted to, as always, tap into a cultural conversation and build a piece of entertainment genuinely worth watching,” said Deepa Patel, Managing Director at VIRTUE Worldwide. “As public fatigue around surveillance and unconsenting recording reaches a huge boiling point, cinematic, suspense-driven storytelling is the only way to make people not only see but truly feel the stakes of losing their privacy. Partnering with Even Realities for their US debut has been an incredible journey, and we’re immensely proud to be their trusted partner to help them introduce camera-free smart glasses to American consumers and redefine what human connection and true privacy really look like.”

On October 8, “Exposed” will expand into an eight-episode cinematic micro-drama, bringing the campaign’s themes of privacy and consent to life through a suspense story built for social. The teaser is available now on TikTok and Instagram, with the full series launching on TikTok at @evenrealities.

More About “Exposed”:

About The Creative Concept:
When Even Realities and VIRTUE began exploring a future in which face-worn cameras become increasingly commonplace, the idea naturally lent itself to suspense. Unlike a phone, which typically needs to be taken out and pointed at something to record, camera-enabled eyewear can make it less apparent when recording is taking place.

Rather than building a traditional product campaign around features or specifications, “Exposed” explores that tension through entertainment. With Ishana Night Shyamalan directing, the campaign uses cinematic storytelling to show how everyday interactions change when people are unsure whether they are being recorded.

The series deliberately avoids traditional product placement and feature demonstrations. Instead, the connection to Even Realities comes through the campaign’s central idea: smart eyewear can take a different approach, and cameras don't have to be part of it.

About the Strategy:
“Exposed” arrives as camera-enabled smart glasses become increasingly visible in everyday life, raising new questions about bystander privacy and consent in public and private spaces.

The campaign brings those questions directly into environments where the tension is especially tangible, from gyms and bathrooms in Manhattan to Times Square and the area surrounding Meta’s campus during Meta Connect. Through its out-of-home activations and upcoming social series, “Exposed” invites people to consider how wearable cameras could change expectations around when, where, and how people are recorded.

Even Realities takes a different approach to smart eyewear. Its Even G2 smart glasses are designed without a camera, instead using a display-first experience to provide information including navigation, live translation, notifications, and teleprompting directly within the wearer’s field of view.
