Description
To launch the Dalmore Luminary No.3, Lemon Scented Tea captured the creative craftsmanship of the whisky brand in an exclusive photo series. The Echoes of Flow.
For this launch, Lemon Scented Tea went back to the basics of craft and chemistry. Creating an analog photo series in which the whisky itself plays the main role. Because all the film rolls were submerged in the limited edition single malt whisky.
The result? The Echoes of Flow. A tribute to the forms and shapes of nature and to patterns created by human hands. A photo series that brings an honor to the unique signature of The Dalmore.
The Scottish landscape and architecture were a big source of inspiration for Lemon Scented Tea. We focused on the “flow” referring to the shapes in nature and architecture, and to the chemistry between the creators of this special single malt. Photographer Maarten Groen, who is known for his expertise and love for analog photography, searched for these traces of flow. The result is a series of images connected by the same flowing line. The analog film was literally submerged in The Dalmore single malt whisky. After taking the photos, the negatives were first dipped in a bath of Dalmore whisky before going to the darkroom. Because of the chemical reaction between the analog film and whisky, an appealing visual effect appeared that really enhances the flow in the exhibition.
Tim ten Dam, creative director at Lemon Scented Tea:
“In a time when we are constantly exposed to AI-generated visuals, sometimes we crave something more old school. The Luminary No.3 was born out of craftsmanship and creativity. A process that took place in the beautiful Scottish Highlands. With the Echoes of Flow, we celebrate this process through analog photography. The process was all about testing, trying and failing. But, the beautiful thing is: in the end it led to 9 amazing photos that honor creativity. Fully aligned with the Dalmore’s brand DNA.”
The Echoes of Flow was launched through an immersive gallery experience, enriched by a whisky tasting inspired by the theme of ‘flow’. The series was subsequently promoted through exclusive PR placements in leading luxury and lifestyle magazines. The creative process was captured in a mini-documentary, which was shared online as a long-form brand film.
The project was created for A Brand New Day, the spirits company representing The Dalmore Whisky in the Netherlands.
