Durga Puja is not just a religious festival, it is the biggest celebration of the year for Bengalis everywhere. In fact, Kolkata’s Durga Puja has been inscribed on UNESCO’s Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. Undoubtedly, it is the world’s largest pop-up installation art festival - a great leveller where people of every caste, creed, faith, and economic background come together to celebrate as one.
Drawing from this spirit of inclusivity, we have designed a campaign for the television news channel News18 Bangla. We have used the iconic boom crafted with Daaker Shaaj (an art form unique to Durga Puja) - illustrated with everyday Puja moments. The copy, written in Bengali, weaves together diversity and the magic of the festivities into a single narrative - uniting disparate groups of people in one shared celebration.
