“And Paf! That makes Chocapic!” This catchphrase is quite familiar to families in France, as is the mascot of Chocapic cereal, Pico. For this project, the client and agency McCann Paris decided to bring Pico into 3D animation for the very first time. Our task was to take the audience on an adventure to discover the natural ingredients that make Chocapic taste so great from a new miniature perspective with Pico as our guide.
We wanted the characters, environments, and cinematography to feel cinematic, even in 15 seconds! The family needed to match with Pico’s cartoony style and yet be relatable. Pico himself required some nuanced texture work to create his fur in 3D while staying true to the original design. The wheat fields and chocolate of course needed to look delicious, but also wondrous.
With one major action shot, we chose a very dynamic camera to put the audience right there in the moment with the characters to experience the rush of movement and dizzying scale.
We are quite proud of the result and look forward to more 3D adventures with Pico!
